World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day, a.k.a. WAD, is an international thematic event celebrated annually on December 1st. WAD which started to become one of our biggest hits a few years back. WAD is one of the national events carried out by the IFMSA, EMSA and for sure here, in our very own SSS. A national campaign is set by the National Officer on Reproductive Health including AIDS (NORA). Each one of EMSA’s local committees does its share in the work load carried to raise awareness on this global threat.
WAD 2004 brings back such funny memories of our AIDS figure used for promotion “AIDSy”, as well as our highly promoting and commenting board to compile different views of medical students on this issue helped us in the promotion of the WAD seminar.
WAD 2005, oh what a hit nationwide! Each Local Committee bombarded medical students of all years with 16,000 questionnaires, 16,000 stickers, red ribbons huge ones and mini ones, T shirts, HIV/AIDS computerized games, 11 seminars across the country…
Last year's AIDS campaign, WAD 2006, was really a blast.
Instead of making a seminar as the past two year, we preferred to create new
idea: A huge stand in the middle of the faculty, where we, SSS members, were
wearing AIDS T-Shirts explaining, talking, distributing materials such as
flyers, mugs, bags, handing questionnaires, etc.. All this with one goal in mind
: Raise the awareness of medical students on such a tragedy!
This year, The SSS will host the World AIDS Day 2007 National
conference organized by IFMSA-Egypt & the UNAIDS, it will be held on the 13th
of December 2007.
World AIDS Day 2007
World AIDS day 2007 celebration was different than any
previous year, it was a National celebration... The IFMSA-Egypt, The
UNAIDS &The SSS organized a National conference on the 13th of December 2007 in the main
conference hall of Kasr Al Ainy Medical school...
The conference was a success, it witnessed attendance of about 500 Egyptian
medical students from all over Egypt & more than 50 professors & doctors from
all over the Egyptian medical schools.
